Accountable Finance is designed to help retail investors build and manage their portfolios using data-driven investment strategies.

We offer a library of public, quantitative strategies inspired by some of the world’s most successful investors—such as Warren Buffett, Peter Lynch, and James O’Shaughnessy. Each strategy is powered by our proprietary stock ranking engine, which combines a tailored set of financial metrics to evaluate companies and applies filters to exclude those that don’t fit the model. These strategies aren’t simply “copycat” versions of famous investors’ portfolios; they are systematic, rules-based frameworks built from the data itself.

As a user, you can:

• Trade public strategies directly.

• Customize or create your own strategies by selecting metrics, filters, and ranking methods that match your goals.

When you choose a strategy, you create a Plan in Accountable Finance. Each Plan provides clear Buy/Sell recommendations based on your chosen strategy and custom trading rules, helping you stay disciplined and consistent.

You can track performance in Accountable Finance by either:

• Syncing your brokerage account through Plaid, or

• Manually recording trades in your Plan.

Accountable Finance is not a registered broker-dealer. All trades must be executed through your own brokerage.

No, Accountable Finance does not buy or sell stock on your behalf. All trades must be executed by you at your brokerage. Accountable Finance’s tools can track your performance and provide frameworks for creating and executing a strategy-based investing plan.

Accountable Finance’s investing strategies are developed from information shared by investing pros that detail their formulas, filtering, trading model, and more. You can find detailed information about any strategy on its strategy page.

Some strategies on Accountable Finance have historically shown high simulated returns. Note that past performance is not indicative of future results. Investors can compare any strategy’s performance to the S&P 500 on our strategy page.

We simulate a sample portfolio for each strategy using 15+ years of historical data. We run a different simulation starting on each day of the month, 15 years ago. [Example: for April 2025, we run simulations starting on April 1 through April 30, 2010, daily.] The final performance numbers are the average of those 30 simulated portfolios.

Fundamental company data and end-of-day stock prices are provided by Morningstar and updated daily.

Accountable Finance processes updates nightly to the stocks you’ve added. This includes dividends, closing price, reinvesting dividends (if applicable), and splitting the stock (if a split was issued).

We then compute the new value of the portfolio, and update performance metrics accordingly. Any new transactions outside of those mentioned, need to be added by you (manually or through Plaid syncing) in order to ensure nightly portfolio performance updates are accurate.

You can add as many historical Buy/Sell transactions as necessary, and at any time.
